Throne Light - Artistic Inspiration

Chapter 3. INSPIRATION  Page 9.  Artistic  Inspiration

The inspiration for the architectural elements of Heaven and landscaping of the Holy city and golden streets was looking through the closed palm praying hands.  Palm and fingers forming the primary Gothic arch or barrel vault with the pinnacle key block engineering used in historic majestic cathedrals.  The ancient Roman builders used it because it is the most efficient and strongest, strength to weight ratio geometric form on earth.   The real motivation came upon reading revelation Chapter 4 of the Throne of Heaven.

HOLY BIBLE  Revelation 4:4-8  The Throne in Heaven (NIV)

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Surroundin

g the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a] of God. Also in front of the throne there was what looked l

ike a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and

 night they never stop saying:

“‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.”

Thus I had the inspiration of drawing Heaven.  Sounds sort of easy and colorful.  I began to sketch or illustrate what was described.  As an artist I found myself drawn to the books of Ezekiel, Daniel and Isaiah with Revelation 21 and the Throne of Heaven New Jerusalem on earth!  Upon research and extensive study of heaven, the vision opened up.  I noticed many artists focused on th

e throne, living creatures and the 24 elders or the walled city from a distance.  As an Industrial Designer I wanted to draw the whole mountain and what was beyond the throne and inside the walls.

Then…. overwhelming is the best I can describe.  Let’s just say Rome wasn’t built in a day.  This calling was meant to be worthy of GOD’s approval.  The inspiration started with a small 5″ x 7″ sketch, a couple of years ago and after over a year of efforts have 3-4 gradually more detailed und

erlay sketches which grew in perspective HIS Throne and mountain top.

Throne Light began with a simple sketch and a dre

am to create a visual art rendition of Heaven containing the descriptions in God’s Word.

Seemingly an impossible task, the journey was transcending the Words on the page by projecting an image that would inspire thought and promote hope for an eternity beyond the borders of this earthly realm. Studying the Throne room and 24 elders, and living creatures became the focus.   Research on Heaven and thumbnail sketch development took a couple of years…..

Then the Industrial Designer took over and it became 6 ft. x 6 ft. blank white canvas

The canvas was the beginning of framing the images transferring the pencil layout sketches to the canvas. The calling for Throne Light was share a vision of Heaven to inspire others to seek the Light and read the Bible to find out more about Heaven.
