Inspired Light – 2016

Each year we create, illustrate and write a custom holiday card to give thanks to all who support us past, present and future.   We are very grateful for the opportunity to serve and hope you enjoy our festive and creative annual Holiday Lights!

Designers are required to meet deadlines.  Norman Rockwell an accomplished artist delivering approximately 140 covers including the Saturday Evening Post by 1938.  Even the most brilliant run light of ideas.  At the time, scratching his head searching for the inspiration with the lucky upside down horseshoe above and pocket watch of the lurking deadline above, the young artist elected to do a self portrait sitting at the blank canvas.  Look close, Rockwell was not illustrating deadline pressure, but the challenges of staying focused and organized. His tools in disarray, on the floor are the paint palette and brush handles are lying in clumps of paint, his inspiration books and sketches are askew underfoot while the maulstick (to support the hand while painting) is beneath the chair and out of reach. One wing of his collar appears about to take flight!   The illustration is about professional stress and the artist who does not keep a clean and organized space while in the flow of creation to deliver on time. In the moment life is in full swing, children are having challenges and the bills are non stop. With all the challenges, we deliver our inspired Card every year to remind you are the Inspired Light for us!

“Meeting deadlines and thinking up ideas are the scourges of an illustrator’s life. This is not a caricature of myself; I really look like that.” -Norman Rockwell.
