J-B Weld® Branding Program – Menard’s Wood Restore Packaging & Merchandising – Point of Purchase

WhiteLight Design worked closely with the Leadership of J-B Weld in conceiving and putting together a rapidly executed wood restore retail brand presence.  It started with an invitation from Menard’s Corporation of Wisconsin to participate in a contest to win the business category for providing a new line high-quality line of wood adhesive and repair products. The presentation included 9 product package proposals with full mock-up graphics.  J-B Weld solidly won the Mernard’s business – beating out the other big players. This start-up venture was launched and in stores in 9 months including several new premium epoxy products and a new “Wood Restore” trademark which has already formed a bond with the Client.

The products address repairing and restoring rotted wood outside and inside the home. The products are categorized into two-component epoxy adhesives, a two-part clear penetrating epoxy sealer (petrifier), polyester two-part wood putty filler, and a one-part wood hardener sealer. These high-strength wood epoxy materials and liquids are designed specifically for the repair of rotted wood. Since launching, September 2010 the program has proven to be a dynamic presence in Menard’s wood repair and rotted wood restoration market.

Connecting with the Customer
J-B Weld has been a long standing epoxy glue solution Display and exhibit design is about the connecting with the customer on a personal level.  Aiming for that moment that the customer makes a past or future connection and wants the product. The product  display and exhibit design must serve many roles. It must communicate the purpose and put the User in a place of feeling good about the product or purpose it serves.  The package – display or exhibit must communicate   quality in retail to serve as a functional information billboard.  Branding or display design is the launching point for creating the vision of product interest and sales.  The semantics of form follows function must dominate the physical package, as well as the merchandizing grouping, must operate to deliver and communicate one cohesive message. Packaging display design must compliment the design, form and appearance of the product.  The branding program with the packaging system design purpose is effectively, clearly communicate the purpose and intent.

The changes in paper, plastics and packaging technologies call for experience and expertise to minimize size and the expense of implementing display and merchandising designs.  Every product or display or exhibit design must meet rigorous testing and regulatory standards. An exhibit shipping container must protect and withstand hazardous transport distributors, rough handling and adverse storage conditions. The the costs of retail space increasing we have put the push on creative and smaller package and display systems.

 When it comes to branding the retail display is the centerpiece.
