Design Brief

The Design Brief is a written overview of the invention, patent, provisional patent or new product – market description with any supporting research, pictures, sketches or drawings with basic; top and side or front view layouts with overall dimensions.  Please note, the quality of the drawing, even rough does not matter.  You may include any pictures of a mock-up or crude 3D model or prototype.  Please also provide an outline of your primary materials, specifications, objectives and considerations for the intended product and the user environment .   You may include any summary business plan or marketing information that will help us qualify what you need and how fast you need it .

The purpose of a Design Brief is three fold.  First, it will support qualifying your broader goals, outlining the aims, objectives and milestones of the prospectus business and plan. Second it considers the invention, new product development process and intellectual property rights including copyrights, trademark, patent and provisional patent protection with respect to industrial design, engineering, materials, prototyping, manufacturing and branding. Thirdly, the document will support the Owners, Business Investors and WhiteLight Design to review and evaluate the general feasibility, scope of services and justification for proceeding into development. The WhiteLight Design team will use this document to review, define and provide a quotation for recommended or required services outlining design, engineering and prototype development you need to deliver upon what is requested, as soon as possible. It is recommended you develop, at least a 2-5 page “Design Brief ” document.

We can then provide service quotations in 2 stages.

1.  “Ballpark Quotation”  Timeframe is approximately 3-5 days from receipt of all available information, depending on the engineering requirements. Based on the number of requests, response time may vary.

2.  Services Quotation & Agreement   Upon approval of a preliminary ballpark budget figure, upon request WD will provide a written Services Quotation outlining the project objectives, scope of services, fee structure, deliverables timeline and working qualifications. Upon acceptance of the Quotation, WD will forward full Services Agreement, which will be authorized in writing by the Client and WD.
